Character Info Fandom: Thor - Marvel Cinematic Universe Name: Thor Odinson/Dr. Donald Blake Gender: Male Age: Thor is immortal, Donald has believed himself to be 33 Species: Asgardian Personality: Donald is the more logical of the two. He's compassionate, kind, and often tries to see all angles of a situation before passing judgment. He tends to be much more reserved and soft-spoken and most people would say he is the kind of man who comes off strong without being physically strong. He has a strong mind and strong morals, believes very much in things like love and the possibility of love being the strongest force in the universe.
Thor is the more passionate, more headstrong and stubborn. Even if he is wrong he does what he wants anyway, or at least he used to. Before he used to be vain and proud but these days he takes a lot from Donald to curb these traits. Now he tends to use Donald's logic in situations and Donald's tendency to get both sides of a story before he passes a judgment. He especially takes upon him the desire to do things not for himself but for the good of others. He finds that kind of joy Donald gets from selfless acts is infectious and it is now one of his better and most obvious traits. Though at times the way he speaks and carries himself as if he is almost royal has him coming off as pompous he does make efforts to explain that it seems to be in his nature to hold himself as such, to speak in a certain way native to how his people spoke. Sometimes Thor makes a great effort to pull in words Donald would use but it makes him sound more ridiculous than anything else and often people find it endearing or just plain weird.
Thor does have a bit of a temper if people he comes to care for get hurt. Donald is not the kind of person to get angry so quick but Thor struggles to maintain his composure when all he really wants to do his make Donald change so Thor can beat someone down. He is making a grand effort to not be that sort of person anymore and in general the two personalities tend to be mostly seemless though it can often be obvious which part of the asgardian is shining through depending on how he behaves at any given time.
Canon Point Where Character Deviates: Instead of Odin casting Thor out as himself he is cast out and has his memories taken away. Odin makes him re-grow up in his body with a crippled leg and powers stripped away. History:
Thor was born in Norway after a union with his father, Odin the King of Asgard, wooed Gaea the earth goddess as he desired an heir to his throne that would one day be even more powerful than himself. Odin took Thor from the cave and raised him Asgard with his half-brother Loki, the trickster god. It was there in that magical realm that Thor was raised to be a warrior and a future ruler. He was taught to be a wise ruler by his father but Thor, being eager for the thrills of battle, became head strong and soon very vain about himself. He had long since gained his famed hammer: the mjolnir and was great at every task he was given, but his pride swelled at every turn.
As such, when he made a foolish mistake in breaking a truce with the Frost Giants and caused his father to cast him out of Asgard to Earth where Odin hoped his foolish son would learn the humility that would one day make him a great King. Thor's memories and powers were stripped from him as was his hammer which was where the majority of his elemental strength lay tied in with the magic of the hammer. He had his same body but Odin forced his body to revert to that of a toddler and he was given a lame leg. Odin was careful to place this lame, stripped Thor into the proper hands of a two midgardian mortals he knew were good, kind people. The Blakes, under Odin's power, thought they had adopted this baby and he was raised to know this as well. He was given the name Donald Blake. This happened 30 years before the Avengers.
Donald was a kind, good child. He was studious and thoughtful if not a bit painfully shy and awkward thanks to his disability but he perservered in school in the sciences. He could talk anyone's ear off about all sorts of things, ranging from astronomy to physics to biology but prefered the science of the body above and beyond all things. Excelling in school meant he went to a great college and ended up meeting Jane Foster, a beautiful science student in the same college who brought out a strange side of Donald, a more manly and charming Donald. He loved her even though they were just friends for the longest time and when she moved to New Mexico to do her research he followed, deciding to set up a family practice in that town to be closer to her. It was then he finally admitted he loved her and the two began their relationship.
In Asgard, where time moved differently, there was trouble brewing as Loki [who had actually been the one to get Thor in trouble and kicked out, inadvertantly] discovered he was not even Odin's true son but the son of Laufey. When he confronted Odin, Odin ended up falling into the Odin Sleep and Loki took the throne. But Odin just before had been watching Thor as Donald and had just cast his hammer back down into midgard. The hammer fell in New Mexico on the outskirts of the city and soon drew S.H.E.I.L.D. to it when they realized what power it gave off.
Donald was the only medical doctor around for miles and when a S.H.E.I.L.D. agent had an accident and it would take to long to get a medical agent out there they called in Donald. But Donald found himself instantly drawn to the hammer. Before he could stop himself he was making a grand effort to get the thing, unable to explain why he needed to. His disabled leg hindered him and the agents detained him, questioned what he was doing but he couldn't explain himself. They reluctantly let him go but they would be watching him carefully. Loki was soon aware of how close his brother was to getting back his power and deciding to intervene he sent the Destroyer to the town to destroy his own brother, someone he was insanely jealous of, even in his new life as he seemed incredibly happy as Donald Blake.
Donald had been getting back bouts of his old memories, which confused the man greatly and worried Jane. Idunn, one of the Asgardians that had power over giving the Asgardians their strength and immortality with her golden apples, was contacted by the Warriors Three and they were able to sneak down to Midgard and get him the apples though it wasn't without freaking out Donald who was confused about why he felt he knew these strange warriors. After much convincing he ate one of the apples they brought and his leg was healed instantly and his old Asgardian powers were restored, giving his leaner frame a muscular upgrade. His memories returned but his personality was still very much changed though it was now being intergrated with that of an old persona that was from his previous life. Parts of Donald would always shine through but now older personality traits of Thor would also come about, causing forever for the man to seem like he at times had a split personality to a degree, but nothing so jarring that he would be deemed unfit for his job or his future duties with the Avengers.
Loki, aware of what was happening, sent the Destroyer to the town to quell the uprising the warriors three and the returning Thor before he could get his hammer back. This backfired though as when Jane Foster was nearly killed Thor's ability to call forth his hammer inacted and Mjolnir flew to him, giving him back his full powers on top of his fresh Asgardian strength. Thor defeated the Destroyer and Odin appeared as apparently he awoke just in time to cast Loki out of Asgard.
Thor, attatched to Earth, and Jane, was asked to stay and work with S.H.E.I.L.D's new Avengers Initiative. He was encouraged to use a secret identity and so he took to only calling himself Thor when fighting the good fight. Mjolnir transformed into a walking cane when not in use and it seemed that when he did not call upon the power of Mjolnir the affects of Iounn's apples slowly wore off until his leg began to ache time and time again. He occasionally would make the trip to Asgard to obtain what he needed to keep strong but recently was not able to make such a trip. It was when he arrived to the facility they would work out of that he was transported to the cruise ship in the middle of the ocean.
